Newport Man Facing Charges In Arson Investigation

A man from Newport has been indicted by special agent fire investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on arson and fraud charges. Investigators say a house fire that happened on Bybee Road in Newport was intentionally set. Investigators say Jamey Scroggins, the owner of the home, was responsible for starting the fire. He is now behind bars, facing two counts of Arson and one count of Insurance Fraud. Scroggins’ bond was set at $2,500.
