A Greene County resident reported a phone scam where a caller impersonated a sheriff’s deputy and demanded $4,500 for an alleged jury duty warrant. The scammer was persuaded to accept $1,000 via a Bitcoin ATM. Police remind residents that neither the Police Department nor the Sheriff’s Department will request payments over the phone.
