Greene Employment Numbers Released
Greene County’s unemployment rate decreased slightly to 5.1% in July, down from 5.2% in June. The rate is up from 4.4% a year ago though. Tennessee’s overall unemployment rate remained steady at a record low of 3.0% for the third consecutive month. 77 Tennessee counties saw a decrease.

Jeremy Roberts, owner of Southland Equipment, was seriously injured in a hay spear accident earlier this week. While delivering equipment, the hay spear fell, pinning Roberts and penetrating his abdomen. He underwent surgery at Johnson City Medical Center and is reported to be recovering.
