Progress is being made toward reopening Bird’s Bridge in Greene County. State inspectors from TDOT were on site Monday, checking the bridge’s structure while crews continued work on a construction road built to haul in materials. The bridge was knocked off its base during flooding last September. Officials say the next major step will be installing guardrails along the Old Asheville Highway. Repairs are covered under state aid with no extra cost to taxpayers.
