Folks in Greene County had to once again deal with power blackouts over this past weekend, as the Tennessee Valley Authority ordered Greeneville Light and Power to curtail its power load due to stress on the power grid that they say was caused by bitterly cold temperatures. Rolling blackouts began around 6 Saturday morning, and they affected different areas of the county at different times… most running for about 20 minutes at a time. The power outages Saturday came after Greene County was subjected to rolling blackouts ordered by TVA mid morning on Friday for a period of about two hours.
