A local state of emergency has been declared in Washington County after water line leaks have affected drinking water quality and water service in general. Water distribution will continue again today at both Lamar and Grandview Elementary Schools. Today, instead of individual bottles of water, three 1-gallon jugs will be given to each vehicle that arrives. Additionally, if you see any water bubbling out of the ground, you are asked to call and report it. The number is 753-1040. That’s 753-1040. Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy declared a local state of emergency on Monday in order to activate state and regional resources after several leaks were discovered along the 500 miles of water lines throughout the county. As crews continue to work around the clock to finish repairs on the already located leaks, county personnel are still searching for other breaks.
