Brightridge – Brightspeed Name Game Causing Confusion

BrightRidge Broadband is seeking an injunction against a company for using a name it claims is too similar to its own. Brightspeed is owned by a private equity firm. The company recently purchased former Century Link/Lumen Technologies assets in 20 states… including Tennessee… and after that purchase, the company assumed the corporate name “Brightspeed.” BrightRidge Broadband says some former CenturyLink customers in Northeast Tennessee have already contacted them after becoming confused by the new name and believing the two providers to be related. According to a survey by BrightRidge, 85% of their customers believe the names are confusing.
