What began as a welfare check for some children in Mooresburg, ended with a man facing drug and gun charges. A Hawkins County deputy responded late Tuesday and saw three children through the window of a camper that was filled with trash. The deputy knocked on the door, and one of the children let him inside, and he immediately smelled marijuana. 32-year-old Joshua Hinkle then admitted to smoking marijuana and there were drugs and drug paraphernalia lying about. Further investigation turned up a semi-automatic pistol with no serial number, large bags of pot, and other illegal drugs, along with scales and baggies. Hinkle was taken into custody and is now facing a long list of felony charges.
