Operation Of Water District May Be Transferred To Greene County

North Greene Utility customers will have the opportunity to vote on transferring the water district’s operation to Greene County at a special meeting this Saturday. The move comes after the North Greene Utilities Board of Directors voted to turn over management and assets due to escalating costs and aging infrastructure. The county commission will consider the transfer next Monday. The utility has faced rising water purchase costs and system leaks, with up to 50% of water lost. The vote marks a significant shift in the operation of the district, originally established in 1970.
