Greeneville Water Repairs Could Top $10 Million

The Greeneville Water Commission’s early estimates for rebuilding its water intake facility, heavily damaged in September’s flooding from Hurricane Helene, could exceed $10 million. If there is any good news about this, it may be this… while floodwaters caused extensive equipment damage, the foundation is still intact, helping to offset costs. To maintain service, temporary pumps are being closely monitored and maintained. More bad news though… FEMA funds may take years to arrive, so Governor Bill Lee has introduced a zero-interest loan program to support utilities in need.
