Starting today, a free burn permit is required to burn leaves or debris in Tennessee. The Division of Forestry issues permits online at www.BurnSafeTN.org or via the MyTN app, and they must be obtained on the day of the burn. Burning without a permit is a Class C misdemeanor. Residents without internet access can call 877-350-BURN for assistance. Also, be sure to check local rules if you’re within city limits.
