All properties in the Cherokee National Forest are closed following severe damage from Tropical Storm Helene. Missing bridges and downed trees are creating hazardous conditions. All trails and roads, including the Appalachian Trail, are inaccessible. The closure affects Greene, Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington counties, with additional closures on the North Carolina side.
