Essential Aid On The Way After Historic Flooding

Efforts are ramping up in Greene County to deliver essential aid across the Nolichucky River following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. Mayor Kevin Morrison reported that many residents on the south side of the river are isolated, with no access to first responders or emergency services. With nearly 8,000 people still without power, officials are working with the Tennessee Department of Transportation to assess bridge conditions and explore logistics for transporting food and water. Shelters, such as the Asbury United Methodist Church, are open to support those displaced.
