Injured Hiker Rescued In Horse Creek Area

Emergency crews rescued a female hiker with an injured ankle near Pete’s Branch Falls Sunday afternoon. Responders used off-road vehicles and hiked rugged terrain to reach her, then carried her out in a Stokes basket. The three-hour rescue was complicated by a passing storm.

Fire crews from Limestone, Nolichuckey, and Jonesborough responded to a late Saturday night fire near the Greene-Washington County line. What was first called in as a brush fire turned out to be a fully involved structure fire. Firefighters say the building was already collapsing when they arrived. No injuries were reported.

Emergency responders were called to a rollover crash Sunday afternoon near the Chuckey Post Office. The Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department, Greene County EMS, Tusculum Police, and Greene County deputies all assisted at the scene. No word yet on injuries or the cause of the crash.

Multiple volunteer fire departments responded quickly after reports of an explosion. Emergency crews from both counties helped contain the blaze.
