Holt Resigns From Greene County Commission
Wesley Holt has resigned his Fifth District Greene County Commission seat, saying the position would jeopardize his state retirement benefits. Holt won the seat last month after serving two terms as sheriff. The county will accept applications before commissioners appoint a replacement.

39 year old Jeremy Scott Wagner of Johnson City entered Alford pleas to four counts of statutory rape in Greene County Criminal Court. A judge imposed eight years, with time served and the remaining six-and-a-half years on probation. A fifth charge was withdrawn.

Witnesses say lightning sparked a Friday night fire that destroyed an outbuilding on Warrensburg Road. Orebank firefighter Josh Ball was treated for smoke inhalation before being taken to Johnson City. He was expected to be released over the weekend.

Officials say lightning ignited an outbuilding before shifting winds pushed heavy smoke toward Ball. He was reported in good condition and expected to be released Sunday.

Police say truck driver Bryan Christopher Woodruff failed to yield while crossing the highway. The impact nearly sheared the roof from Kangsan Lee’s vehicle. Lee was hospitalized with suspected minor injuries.
