Republican Women Hold Final Pre-Election Meeting
The Greene County Republican Women held their final meeting before the election Friday at the General Morgan Inn. Chancellor Doug Jenkins urged party unity. Current officeholders and candidates also spoke, including Third Judicial District judge candidates Crystal Jessee and Mark Stapleton.

Greene County musician Barry Bales has received two International Bluegrass Music Association Award nominations. Bales is nominated for Bass Player of the Year and shares a Vocal Group of the Year nomination as a member of Alison Krauss and Union Station. He has performed with the band since 1990.

A truck was heavily damaged by fire Sunday afternoon on Cedar Creek Road. Bryson Collins told deputies the 2013 Dodge Ram caught fire while he was installing transmission mounts and tried to start it. St. James firefighters extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. The truck was valued at 35-thousand dollars.
