Greene County Grand Jury Returns July Indictments
A Greene County grand jury returned indictments against 14 people during its July term. Charges include drug possession and distribution, DUI, evading arrest, aggravated assault, weapons violations, child neglect and making a false report. An indictment is an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Severe storms knocked out power to more than 700 Greeneville Energy Authority customers Tuesday night and damaged property across Greene County. Strong winds destroyed at least one barn near Camp Creek. County officials say no injuries were reported, and residents are now working together to clean up the damage.

22 year old Jacob Jarnigan was seriously injured Wednesday when his motorcycle collided with a box truck on Newport Highway near Bowers Road. Troopers say the truck, driven by 45 year old Anthony Santos, turned in front of the motorcycle. Jarnigan was airlifted to a hospital. Santos was not injured.
