Speed Limit Lowered on Highway 11E
The speed limit on Highway 11E from Greene County to near Jonesborough has been reduced from 65 to 55 miles per hour. TDOT says the change follows a traffic study that found the corridor’s crash rate was nearly twice the statewide average for similar roads.

24 year old Isaac Shane Whitson of Limestone faces aggravated domestic assault and interference with emergency calls charges. Washington County deputies say Whitson threw a smoke detector that struck an elderly woman in the face, then fled. He was arrested in a nearby field and later posted $25,000 bond.

The National Weather Service says radar confirmed a likely tornado Tuesday evening in Greene County’s Rocky Fork area near the North Carolina line. Debris was also detected in the air as severe storms moved through East Tennessee. Tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for parts of Greene and Cocke counties.
