The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated five fatal crashes resulting in eight deaths during the 2025 Memorial Day holiday, down from 14 fatalities in 2024. Four crashes were single-vehicle, with one alcohol-related death. Most victims wore seat belts, and no child restraint fatalities were reported. Troopers maintained heavy enforcement targeting impaired driving and speeding.

The Town of Greeneville has rescheduled its budget workshop for today at 4 p.m. in the G. Thomas Love Boardroom. The meeting was postponed last week after Mayor Cal Doty suffered a stroke. Doty has returned home and is continuing his recovery but will miss the workshop.
