A Democratic candidate for governor was in Newport recently, where he visited with a small crowd of about 25. Jason Martin is a doctor. He is running against two other Democratic candidates and at least eight Independents, as well as incumbent Bill Lee. The stop came as he and his family were on their way to Knoxville to protest the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court.
